Willoughby Hall at Pratt Institute
by Julie on Fri Sep 01, 2006 1:54 PM
I'm back at school in Brooklyn! This year at Pratt I'm living in the Willoughby dorm, which is right off of campus. It's so much better than living in the Freshman dorm that I lived in last year, Pantas. I get to cook my own food now in my very own kitchen, and I have a lot more room in my double. I'm rooming with my all-time favorite person to cohabitate with at school, Devon, and I'm living right next to my other two BEST FRIENDS, Dana and Sarah, which is pretty sweet. I'm crazy excited that all of you people on the interweb get to see what my school room looks like. It's like you're here...but you're not. Magical!

The Engineering Building at Pratt Institute
by Julie on Fri Sep 08, 2006 10:19 AM
This week was my second week of classes! On Thursday I got some pictures of my classrooms so I could put them in this awesome tour of the Engineering Building. That's where I have three out of my six classes every week, including the two featured in the tour, Expository Writing and Writing Studio. You can see some of my classmates and even one of my teachers! The Engineering Building was one of the original buildings from when Pratt when founded in the late 1800s.

Teany and the Lower East Side, New York City
by Julie on Mon Sep 18, 2006 10:25 AM
Last weekend, Nelson came to see Katie, so we all met up at teany, a tea house in the Lower East Side. The musician Moby opened teany with his then-girlfriend Kelly about five years ago, and it was the one place I dreamt of going all through high school. For those who don't know, I was obsessed with Moby for a few years in high school, mostly tenth grade. When I came to New York, I had only been to teany once before (with Claudia and Lydia on a school trip), and it was like a fulfillment of my greatest fantasies to be able to go to teany whenever I wanted, alone or with friends, day or night. It's a fun place to take people to, especially friends who are visiting the city. Plus, one block down is Economy Candy, a HUGE candy store where Nelson likes to buy Zots. They make
you foam at the mouth : )

Anyway, check out my teany tour! It's pretty sweet, because you can travel from the subway, up the stairs, around the lower east side, and finally end up at teany.
